Japanese Butterbur
The Petasites japonicus has taken over this patch of the yard. I can not control it. It is my own fault, I planted it decades again. This photo was taken a year ago but it came back again and spread some more.
In June of 2025 I took a weed whacker and machete to the stalks to par it back a bit. I also interplanted cuttings of Red Osier dogwood that would branch over these leaves. We’ll see if that will be successful next year.
