Saturday Picture Theme is #Distort

Lithium-Ion Batteries

The theme of the day for October 5, 2024 is #Distort. Not a good sign when I noticed that my Motorola G-7 phone had bent out of shape. This is such a common issue with the Lithium-Ion batteries. They swell and in some cases catch on fire. I also noticed this when I bought some off-brand batteries for my Olympus Camera. They worked fine for a couple of years then started to swell. I won’t make that mistake again. It has happened with 9aH 60 volt DeWalt battery too. At least the DeWalt was covered under a warranty. I should be grateful it didn’t catch fire, lots of energy in that unit.

I now have a Samsung SM-S906U1 phone that I only charge to 85%. Hopefully this will stay together longer than the Motorola. I guess this is why we can’t ship them in the mail without a warning label.
