Wednesday Picture Theme is #Name

Namakarana

The theme of the day for October 23, 2024 is #Name. In 2008 I attended a Hindu naming ceremony for a co-workers newborn. The ceremony is called Namakarana or Namakarana Samskara, and is usually held between the 11th and 12th day after birth. The ceremony is meant to celebrate the baby's birth and bless them with a prosperous life. The parents choose the baby's name, and a priest is often invited to perform the ceremony.
